Good morning blues and Leadbelly

Have you ever felt like that?

"You lay down at night and you roll from one side of the bed to the other all night long, you can't sleep, what's the matter? The blues has got you. You get up and sit on the side of your bed in the morning and you may have a sister, brother, mother and father around you but you don't want no talk out of them, what's the matter? The blues has got you. You go and put your feet under the table and look down on your plate and you've got everything you want to eat but you shake your head and get up and say "Lord, I can't eat, I can't sleep", what's the matter? The blues has got you."

Leadbelly

I remember one night in Bogusławice where we, old crazy campers, were sitting around the fire, drinking, playing guitars and singing. There were a group of high school guys with us who were there with their teachers. The latter, poor little things, tried to keep some discipline and ordered the teenagers to go to bed. The schoolguys promised to obey but after one last song. The teachers agreed. I took the guitar and started singing this song.

The list of family members who helped me 'pick a bale o'cotton' was astonishingly long, and my version was far longer than that of Leadbelly...
